2011 Legislative
Priorities
WVASA's membership committee
has finalized the following
priorities for the W.Va. Legislature's 2011 regular session:
Priority One:
The WVASA encourages the State Legislature to provide for the immediate release of Federal Education Jobs Funds to local Boards of Education in order that the local boards may expedite the process of hiring educational personnel.
Priority Two:
The WVASA encourages the Governor and State Legislature to develop a solution to the Other Post-Employment Benefits (OPEB) by removing the liability from local Boards of Education and establishing a long term plan for resolution.
Priority Three:
The WVASA encourages the Governor and State Legislature to continue support for RESA's and to restore RESA funding to previous levels.
Priority Four:
The WVASA encourages the Governor and State Legislature to address hiring requirements found under §18A-4-7a with regards to hiring factors and the ability to repost for positions under certain circumstances.
