WHAT WE DO
The West Virginia Association of School Administrators (WVASA) and its members serve to support current and aspiring public school administrators in West Virginia at the state and county levels with public education legislation development and public education advocacy, along with professional networking, and professional development opportunities throughout the state.
SUPERINTENDENT OF THE YEAR
Superintendent Hess was nominated by his colleagues in recognition of his outstanding performance and achievement. The recipient of this years Superintendent of the Year award has been a teacher, assistant principal, principal, central office director, and is completing his 14th year as Superintendent of Jackson County. He has secured millions of dollars from School Building Authority (SBA) for new construction as well as renovations to existing facilities in his district. He is responsible for a one-to-one technology initiative that included providing a MacBook to every high school student and iPads to all middle school and elementary school students in his district. A quote from his nomination form “his contributions to the school system are great and significant in consequence.”

Congratulations Donna M. Talerico!!! WVASA recognized Mrs. Talerico as the West Virginia County Deputy Superintendent of the year!! This award is in recognition of Mrs. Talerico’s outstanding performance and achievement!

Celebrating Retirement
Congratulations to our retiring Superintendents; Terry George (Fayette County) and Mary Jane Pope Albin (Wirt County). Not pictured Dr. Mark Manchin (Harrison County), Dr. Ron Duerring (Kanawha County) and Jeff Midkiff (Lincoln County). Thank you for your service!!
